Demo guide

How to prepare a techno or tech house demo

A good demo is simple: one finished track, sent clearly, by the person who made it. This guide walks through exactly what Industrial Echo Records listens for and how to send it, so your music gets the hearing it deserves. When you’re ready, use the demo submission page to send your track and details together.

Start by listening to the label

The strongest demos fit the label they’re sent to. Before choosing your track, spend some time with the Industrial Echo catalogue — from driving peak time techno and hard techno to groove-led tech house, melodic techno and minimal / deep tech. Hard dance, progressive and mainstage are welcome too.

Then choose the one finished original track that best represents your sound — not a folder of sketches, and not a work in progress. If we want to hear more, we will ask.

Send a clean, finished mix

Your demo should be a complete mix that holds up on a club system: balanced, with headroom, and without clipping. You don’t need to pay for professional mastering before submitting — we listen for the music and the mix, and if a track is signed, a final polish can be discussed then.

Send it as a WAV file, up to 120 MB, uploaded directly through the form. Your upload is not converted or compressed. Prefer a link? A private Dropbox or WeTransfer download link works too — check that it opens and downloads before you send it, and that it won’t expire before we can listen.

Tell us who made it

Include your artist name, the track title and a contact email. A genre is optional — the music decides that, not a dropdown.

Credit everyone involved: collaborators, co-writers, vocalists and any sampled or third-party material, and make sure you have permission for everything in the recording. You must own or control the track you send. This is practical guidance, not legal advice — if you’re unsure about a sample or a credit, sort it out before submitting.

What happens next

We review demos for sound, originality and fit with the label. If a track is right for Industrial Echo, we get in touch to talk about working together. Sending a demo is a first step, not a contract — and it doesn’t guarantee a reply, a signing or a release.

If we do agree to work together, you’ll read the agreement first, then complete your details in a private Artist Hub and review and sign the agreement. The label reviews your completed submission before preparing the release. You can read exactly what the label provides — artwork, promotion, the 50/50 master royalty split and more — on the For Artists page.

Before you press send

  • One finished original track — the one that best represents your sound
  • A clean, complete mix as a WAV (up to 120 MB) or a working private download link
  • Your artist name, the track title and a way to reach you
  • Every collaborator, writer and sample credited and cleared
  • The private link tested in a logged-out browser, so it actually downloads

One track per submission. If you have questions that aren’t covered here, contact the label.
