About Carl Blaukempt

I grew up surrounded by music. At just nine years old, I started going to parties with DJs, and that’s where I fell in love with techno — especially after discovering the legendary track “The First Rebirth” by Jones & Stephenson. At the age of twelve, I started going to Cap'tain, one of Belgium’s iconic clubs. Music quickly became a revelation for me, and I simply couldn’t stay away from clubs. From the age of sixteen, I was finally old enough to experience some of Belgium’s other legendary venues, including Lagoa, H2O Club, La Bush, and many more. At that time, these clubs required an ID to register and get in, so being able to experience them felt like entering another world. It was during those years that I realized something very clearly: no matter what I do in life, the dancefloor will always be my happiest place. I used to look up at the DJs behind the decks and tell myself, “One day, I want to make people feel the same happiness through the music I love.” The problem was that I didn’t have much money. I couldn’t afford a pair of Technics SL-1200s, let alone a mixer, so I kept going out, discovering music and enjoying the scene without really being able to start DJing myself, i've just made amazing memories which i'll admit are priceless. Then, in 2004, the first version of VirtualDJ came along. I bought a controller, and that was the moment everything changed. I started experimenting, playing with music, and discovering what it meant to be behind the decks. I’ve never stopped since. Over the years, I explored many different styles — Jumpstyle, Hardstyle, Hard Techno, Schranz, and even Hardcore. I still love those genres today, but my sound has naturally evolved towards a softer blend of House and Techno. I’ve never really wanted to choose between the two. When I play, I simply follow the flow. I let the music guide the journey and take the set wherever it needs to go. Then came COVID. During that period, Joachim Garraud organized a DJ contest. I entered and finished second, competing against DJs who were already professionals. That experience gave me a huge boost of confidence, and people around me started telling me that I should take the next step and produce my own music. So I did. I started producing with FL Studio, before eventually moving to Ableton Live. Since then, I’ve been constantly learning, experimenting and pushing myself further. And I’m still grinding today. For me, it has always been about the same thing: music, the dancefloor, and that feeling of making people happy through the music I love.
